Things to Do in Winter Park CO
Camp Spirit 2020
From February 22 to 29, Winter Park welcomes campers both old and new to a week of Camp Spirit activities. This year’s Camp Spirit filled up quickly. If you’re interested in this popular event be sure to get signed up for Camp Spirit 2021. Aimed at building friendships, camp activities include dog sled rides, snowmobiling, winter games, crafts, sleigh rides, marshmallow roasts, singing, and skiing on bi-skis.
Stafford Tour at Ullrs Tavern
Get your tickets on SeatGeek.com when the Spafford tour group will be at Ullrs Tavern. The group composed of Sashi, Michael, Chuck, and Nick will perform on Friday February 28 and Saturday February 29. It is part of the jam quartet’s Jam Base tour.
Music at Mary Jane
When you’ve spent a day on the slopes, why not finish with the Mary Jane entertainment event at the Winter Park Resort? This alpine ski resort opened in 1975. Experience moguls, tree skiing, hidden huts and other challenging terrain at Mary Jane. The show will run from three until five in the afternoon on March 7th.
Kyle Hollingsworth at Ullrs Tavern
If you are still up for more music, catch the Kyle Hollingsworth concert at Ullrs Tavern at eight in the evening. This American rock keyboard player is most famous for his versatile style with accordion, electric keyboard, Hammond organ, clavinet and synthesizer. An avid beer brewer, Kyle calls his tour Brew ski.
Fireworks Display
On Saturday March 14, those gathered on the slopes of Winter Park can enjoy a family-friendly fireworks display sponsored by Coca Cola. From six to eight, before the fireworks, you and your family can enjoy the music of Wood Belly.
Gather around a crackling fire to get a front-row seat for the sunset fireworks that begin at eight. There will be great giveaways and a s’mores bar.
The Jauntee at Ullrs Tavern
On Friday evening, March 20th, the Jauntee will be at Ullrs Tavern for a nine o’clock concert. This quartet whose latest hit is “Always Never Knowing”. The group has a decade of experience touring a hundred shows annually at such events as Peach Fest, Catskill Chill, Brooklyn Bowl, Paradise Rock Club, and Resonance. They’ve been to thirty-six states and are favorites wherever they go.
Spring Festival
March 21-22 Winter Park hosts its two-day Spring Festival. Fun activities include snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, and fat biking.
Spring Bash and Splash
Offering a full month of sun and fun and spring skiing, Spring Bash and Splash begins March 28-29 with “Family Weekend”. April 4-5 is called “The Big Wonderful Beerfest Weekend”. April 11-12 is “Country Weekend”. April 18-19 is Beach Weekend.
Popular for the past two years, you won’t want to miss the 3rd Annual Beerfest. It is bigger than ever with over twenty local breweries serving unlimited samples to avid beer drinkers.
On March 30-April 1 The International Freeskiers and Snowboarders Association will hold the Junior Regional competitions at Winter Park’s The Cirque. This is Winter Park’s extreme double-black diamond terrain. A hundred athletes will compete each day to see who has what it takes to conquer the Big Mountain terrain.
Second Annual Front Range Splitfest
Winter Park Colorado Events 2020 also includes this exciting fest. April 2 to 5 is the second annual Front Range Splitfest. Riders meet to promote backcountry safety and education at the Headwaters Center in Winter Park’s scenic roads. Participants learn new backcountry skills and have a chance to try out the latest splitboard gear.
Blues From the Top Weekend
The last weekend in June is reserved for “Blues from the Top”. Presented by the Grand County Blues Society, this popular event features famous blues artists. Previous performers have included the Allman Betts Band, the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, The Record Company, Lucinda Williams and North Mississippi Allstars. Get your tickets for this June 29-30 event at BluesFromTheTop.org. The shows will be held at the Rendezvous Event Center at Hideaway Park in downtown Winter Park 78821 US Hwy 40.
47th Annual Juried Arts and Crafts
On July 11, the forty-seventh Juried Fine Arts and Crafts event will feature the work of sixty-five artists. Art will include such media as wood, painting, photography, metals, jewelry, fiber, glass, ceramics, as well as mixed media. Plan to attend this free event at the Rendezvous Event Center at Hideaway Park in downtown Winter Park 78821 US Hwy 40.
Winter Park Jazz Festival
On July 18-19, the 38th Winter Park Jazz Festival will be held at the Rendezvous Event Center at Hideaway Park in downtown Winter Park 78821 US Hwy 40. Performers will include Kem, Peter White, Tower of Power, and ElanTrotman’s tribute to Marvin Gaye. Third Annual Country at the Park
Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Rendezvous Event Center at Hideaway Park in downtown Winter Park 78821 US Hwy 40, be sure to take time to attend the 3rd Annual Country At The Park. From noon until 6 p.m., enjoy the music of authentic country singers. Previous performers include Jason McNabb, Easton Corbin, and Justin Moore.
Tequila and Tacos Festival
On Saturday August 29, Winter Park will host the fifth annual Tequila and Tacos Festival. Join enthusiastic tequila and tacos tasters and enjoy music and contests. Held at Hideaway Park, this year’s event will add a chili cookoff.
Torchlight Parade
What a great way to celebrate Christmas Eve. Come to Winter Park Resort and meet Santa starting at two. The parade starts at 5:30. It will be led by torch-bearing skiers coming down Lower Hughes Trail. They will be followed by the jolly fat man and his helpers. After the ski-down procession, fireworks will complete the evening’s events.
