Grand Park co-hosting Ride The Rockies 2014
The Grand Park community is pleased to announce that we’ll be co-hosting an overnight stay for the 2014 Ride The Rockies road bike tour here in Colorado!
Yup, that’s right. Ride the Rockies (RTR) is a 6-day road bike tour across the Colorado Rocky Mountains, with this year’s tour beginning on June 8.
Over 3,500 bicyclists from all 50 states and 14 different countries apply to participate in RTR, though only 2,000 lucky participants are invited to ride. The RTR route changes every year. This year’s route kicks off with an 89-mile ride on the first day, beginning in Boulder and riding over Berthoud Pass and into Grand County.
The first night stop of this year’s tour will be in Winter Park and Grand Park, which is also the first time Winter Park and Grand Park have had the opportunity to host a night of the tour.
Of course, Grand Park has plenty planned to accommodate RTR! Participants are invited to camp on Grand Park’s property for the night, and are also invited to use the facilities at the Grand Park Community Recreation Center. A free concert is scheduled for the evening of June 8, featuring a live performance by The Samples. The Village at Grand Park’s own Icebox Liquor store will host a wine tasting event from 2-4 p.m., and the Fraser Valley chapter of the Lion’s Club will also provide breakfast and lunch in the Village at Grand Park as well.
We sure are excited to offer a little Grand Park hospitality to Ride The Rockies!
