There’s more going on than ever before…
Locals and visitors will enjoy discovering the new restaurants, retail shops and activities recently unveiled in Winter Park. The Ski Resort will celebrate its 70th anniversary this season with a
Winter Carnival on Jan. 23-24. The Town of Winter Park will host human bowling, sledding, a campfire and hot chocolate with fireworks and cake after the parade. The
Dog Days of Winter dogsled race, dog agility shows, Doggie Drag snowshoe romp and skijoring clinics will be held at Grand Park that weekend, and additional activities and events will be held at Winter Park Resort.
NEW DINING EXPERIENCES
At Grand Park,
Winter Park Market’s new deli is expected to open by Christmas with an ever-changing menu of homemade soups, salads, sandwiches and pastries made from fresh, local ingredients.
Last season marked the opening of two new eateries at the Resort:
Lime Cantina, an American/Mexican restaurant, and Cheeky Monk, a
Belgian beer cafe. This summer, Goodys opened its doors with delicious crepes and homemade ice cream. New for this winter, the
Back Bowl Soup Company will serve a variety of soups and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches.
New dining options in town include
Wild Horse Gourmet located in Cooper Creek Square offering a variety of takeout options,
Azteca Mexican Restaurant now open in King Crossing, and the new steakhouse at Silverado II. Alberto’s will replace the Green Olive on the top floor of Cooper Creek Square with Northern Italian cuisine prepared by the owners of the
Tabernash Tavern.
FUN, NEW ACTITIVIES
Everyone is eagerly awaiting the opening of the
Grand Park Community Recreation Center. Scheduled to open Dec. 18, the brand new 48,000 square foot facility will include a lap pool, tot pool, water slide, lazy river, whirlpool, steam room and sauna in the natatorium. The gym will offer a full size basketball court and a running/walking track. The rec center also includes an expansive weight room, stationary cycles, a dance/aerobics room, a childcare center and a towering rock wall designed for both adults and children.
Colorado Adventure Park will open soon for its second season with a new fleet of snow scoots and airboards. Snow scoots are mini-snowmobiles designed for children under 110 lbs. Airboards are a fast new sledding option used on the same slopes as the traditional tubes. Both activities are accessed from a magic carpet conveyor lift. For a more relaxing experience, the Adventure Park offers sleigh rides and free sledding for small children at the base of the slopes.
The new Winter P'arkade will open this winter at the Resort, providing children a place of their own to play the latest
video games. Also located at the ski area are an
outdoor ice rink and a gazebo which will include a visit from Santa Claus, live music, and more.
