Entering into its 69th season of continual operation, Winter Park Resort is excited to announce new additions to Colorado's oldest resort. From a new base village to a state of the art village cabriolet; and $40 million in on-mountain improvements over the past five years to new lodging located just steps from the slopes; Winter Park Resort is changing the way its guests think about this once sleepy ski area by turning it into a true destination resort.

The most significant changes this season are taking place right at the base of Winter Park Resort. When guests first arrive, they will notice the $100 million "Village at Winter Park Resort" – a new epicenter that covers approximately 30,000 square feet of additional space with new restaurants, retail and high-end living areas. A scenic pond rests between The Village at Winter Park Resort and Zephyr Mountain Lodge, offering guests a relaxing area to sit beside or ice skate. The resort's new Village Cabriolet connects day-trippers to The Village from the resort's largest free parking area located near the Vintage Hotel; or guests can park close-in at The Village's recently completed parking garage. For the destination visitor, Fraser Crossing and Founders Pointe were completed last spring to add nearly 200 new lodging units (studios, one, two, and three bedrooms) to the Village parameter. Fourteen high-end living areas called The Lofts are located right in The Village, offering guests exciting second home opportunities.

To balance out its new base area development, nearly $40 million in capital improvements over the past five years have transformed Winter Park Resort's terrain. Four new chairlifts in four years (including this year's Village Cabriolet and last year's Panoramic Express); terrain expansions in the Eagle Wind and Parsenn Bowl areas; a newly renovated Club Car restaurant and Snoasis Lodge; and upgrades to existing dining and equipment rental options have created an unparalleled on-mountain experience.

Working toward enhancing guest experience for the upcoming season, Winter Park Resort has purchased over $250 thousand worth of new ski/ride gear to update the quality of rental offerings. All rental skis will fall under the resort's new Salomon Syncro rental system, synonymous with lightning fast fitting for a faster, more efficient rental process. Additionally, 250 more kids' skis, boots and Burton snowboards have been purchased along with a new Montana robot tuning machine to ensure that all equipment stays in great shape. Renting guests receive complimentary on-snow valet and Smith Bluetooth helmets. Book in advance and guests save 20% on gear.

The new look and feel of Winter Park Resort is certainly not to be missed. The Village Cabriolet is scheduled to open for Winter Park Resort's opening day on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. The Village at Winter Park Resort is slated for the 2008/09 season.
